GOLF TIP #1

You want to go for the pin, use the short irons. It is easy to do once you learn how to finesse those short irons. The way to do that is to practice hitting each short iron (7 thru wedge) different distances. For example; try hitting your 8-iron 90 yards, 100 yards, 110 yards, 120 yards, 130 yards and 140 yards (or whatever might be your range of distances). You will develop a great feel and you will discover how much those short irons will help the rest of your golf game!

GOLF TIP #2 (2.03.98)

Short irons are very powerful because we are able to shoot for the flagstick. The short irons are shorter golf clubs and that allows us to have more control. Compared to a driver, which takes a little longer to swing. It all relates to the theory of shorter distance versus longer distance. The more (or longer) you swing a golf club the higher the probability that your shot will be off line.

Practicing short irons will help you achieve control for all of your golf clubs. Why? Because your short irons are smaller golf clubs and we are able to swing them easier. We know that our short irons are only going to travel so far, therefore, are tendencies to over swing will be greatly reduced. And most importantly the short irons are a base. They are the foundation for all of your golf clubs. Being able to swing all of your golf clubs "As Though They Were Your Short Irons" will help you to swing with control. Having control when you hit your short irons will allow you to "Go fot it"! Just UNLEASH that power !
